Martial Arts FundraiserThe Federation of United Martial Artists (FUMA) in conjunction with the International Federation of Ju Jitsuans (IFOJJ) joined forces with the International Brain Research Foundation (IBRF) to form a Martial Arts Fundraiser, “Day of a Thousand Punches.” Dedicated to the memory of the late Soke Michael DePasquale, Sr., martial arts pioneer, the event took place on December 9, 2006, with enthusiastic participation from dojos across the country. A first attempt with this venture was a resounding success. “On January 6, 2007, we were able to give Dr. Philip DeFina a check for the International Brain Research Foundation in the amount of $8,000 in support of IBRF's mission,” commented Michael DePasquale Jr. The forum for the presentation was the Mega Martial Arts Weekend in Atlantic City, New Jersey on January 5th – 7th. The International Brain Research Foundation focuses exclusively on research surrounding brain health, and the translational research results already are helping many individuals with brain disorders. The organization continues its fight for brain health through cutting-edge research and trials with top scientists around the world.
